The intern will assist the engineering and transportation planning functions of the department. Work may include developing and carrying out surveys and street data collection such as, bicycle and vehicle parking studies, speed studies, assisting with the Dig Safe program, creating and managing spreadsheets and databases, analyzing and presenting data, researching transportation issues, reviewing and creating reports, maps, data entry, and some general office work. The intern would be expected to attend staff meetings and other meeting as required.
The TP&T interns will also work on the City’s Bike Rack installation program. This will involve helping select locations in the City that warrant new bike racks (mostly on city sidewalks), creating work orders for each round of installation (about 20-30 racks installed per round), mapping locations in GIS, photographing and documenting racks, managing contractor, and monitoring the bike racks being installed in the field.
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week, (flexible)
Mon. 8:30 A.M.-8:00 P.M. Tue., Wed., Thur., 8:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M., Fri. 8:30-12:00 P.M. Temporary position up to 6 months.
